Weekly Round Up
It's been two weeks since the last newsletter with lots to give a mention to. Last week was busy for many different reasons. It started with a group of our Year 6 girls attending the International Women's Day Conference at Cumbria University. It was a great day where our girls met with other pupils from different schools in the local area to hear from inspiring women who shared their career stories. Our role model, Engineering lecturer Jenny Roberts, told us about her Beebox invention, addressing the declining population of Bumble Bees. We were given one as a thank you for our work with her and have now positioned it under the tree in the far corner of the grassy area at the front of school. If you look carefully you may be able to spot it, but we are hoping Bumble Bees may move in quite soon!
Last Thursday was World Book Day. I hope you all caught the photos posted on our Facebook page - it looked like a certain two teachers had more fun than the children, causing chaos and much joy as they went.
I was really sad to miss out on the day and explained my absence to the pupils on Monday. I was fortunate to join a delegation of educationalists who travelled down to meet with the Eden Learning team at Eden Project Cornwall. It was an excellent opportunity to help shape the education offer for our pupils once Eden Project Morecambe is built. It's shaping up to be an amazing opportunity for all our chidlren and young people in the Bay area.
This week has been business as usual. Mr Saban took our Y5/6 Footballers to our first super league fixture and are currently standing 5th out of 10 schools that are, I have to say, much bigger than ours! Well done team.
Cereal Collection
Thank you to those who have brought in boxes of cereal for our collection. If you didn't catch the Facebook post, our intention is that next Friday we are going to construct a big domino run from the cereal boxes before we then gather them all up and send them to the Foodbank. I can't wait to see how long a run we make, however to do this we need many more boxes.
Mr Saban set up a House competition on Monday to see how many boxes could be collected - Red House won this week and earned an extra 100pts to the weekly total. Let's see which house wins next week but please, keep collecting!
Lancaster and Morecambe Big Sing
We are looking forward to next week when both Year 2 and our School Choir will be taking part in the Big Sing festivals. Year 2 will be perfomring on Monday evening and the choir, on Thursday. Both groups have been working incredibly hard to learn all the songs for the competition and I know they will have a great time.
We wish them all luck for their performances and I hope all our parents going to watch, have a great time!
Stars of the Week
Well done to Lilah in Maple Class, Tommy in Holly Class, Evelyn in Elm, Elise in Willow, Lily-Rae in Beech Class and Alice in Oak who were our Stars of the Week for committing themselves to their learning, showing focus and enthusiasm in all they do, supporting others and being kind.
A shout out goes to last week's Stars too - well done Emila-Mae in Maple, Robyn in Holly, Harley in Elm, Jace in Willow, Shay in Beech and the whole of Oak Class, for being brilliant!
