Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 23

Termly Round Up!

The Easter break is finally upon us and at this point it's always good to look back and appreciate all we have achieved. It's been a hardworking term with lots to be proud of, including all the added extras from Bikeability and outdoor treks, to story writing workshops and sports competitions.

This week was no exception as we had two groups of pupils representing Overton St Helen's, joining many other schools in the area at competitions. It was the final event in the Y5/6 Football League; Mr Saban was proud of the teams that have taken part, finishing sixth over all out of 14 schools. Similarly, Mrs Ingham and Mrs Harding were proud of their team of gymnasts who finished second over all, with two pairs winning individual medals. It takes courage and commitment to represent the school - well done to all involved.

As our Spring Term draws now to a close, I would like to thank all our families for the support you give us and I hope you all have a lovely Easter. Remember, school reopens after the bank holiday, on Tuesday 22nd April.

New Menu

As we return for the Summer Term, a new menu for school lunches will be in place. Pupils brought home the new menu last week; please remember to look over this with your child so that each day, they make the right decision about their lunch.

Please note that the cost of school meals is also rising to £2.90 per lunch.

Thanks from OSFA!

A big thank you from the OSFA team for supporting our 'Yes' day today. The children looked very colourful, breaking our school rules for the day!

Also, a big THANK YOU to Edie and Thea Brownlee who have become the next pupils to complete the OSFA 2025 challenge. They spent a portion of their weekend picking up 2025 (I am afraid to say) pieces of litter from the area around Heysham Nature Reserve. Not only have the girls raised £180 for OSFA, they've taken action to look after our environment too. Thanks girls!

STARS OF THE WEEK!

Well done to Maverick in Maple Class, Joshua in Holly, Henry in Elm, Athena in Willow Class, Garth in Beech and Sam Manderson in Oak who were our Stars of the Week for the effort and concentration they give to their work, for being helpful and enthusiastic in class.

Congratulations also go to our pupils who were the recipients of Values Awards for 'Forgiveness' this half-term. Charlie Ainsworth, Emily Catto, Jaxon Puffett, Hugo Korab, Charlotte Noon and Imogen Wannop all received their teacher's awards, Tom Jewitt gained Miss Hall's award and Will Brooks was given Mrs Easthope's award, all for being amazing examples of how Forgiveness supports positive friendships, team spirit and happy classrooms.
