Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 32
Weekly Round Up
It's been a very 'outdoors' week this week with all classes at some point, out and about. Our Y6s have been away at Winmarleigh Hall doing all sorts of outdoor pursuits, Beech Class and Willow Class have been up in Coniston kayaking on the lake and our three youngest classes with members of Oak Class have today, trekked to Sunderland Point and back, spending the day exploring the area. We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the world, with so much opportunity right on our doorstep.
It's amazing to think we only have two more weeks of the school year to go. Next week, we look forward to the Overton Talent Show on Wednesday evening and the OSFA Colour Dash on Friday, after school finishes.
I believe I am in for a gunging already, but please give generously, so that all the other teachers can keep me company!
Year 6 Transition Workshops for Pupils and Parents
On Thursday 10th July, Jade and her colleagues from the Barnardos Mental Health Team, will be coming in to visit our Year 6 pupils, leading a talk on transition to high school. They will be giving our pupils top tips on how to manage their feelings around transitioning to high school and how to organise themselves independently in those crucial first few weeks.
On the same day, Jade will also be holding a workshop for parents at the later time of 3.30pm - 4.30pm, offering some useful strategies to support your children as they move on from primary school. It can be a tense time for all involved and we hope through these workshops to not only offer our pupils some support, but our parents too. We hope you can take up this offer.
OSFA Colour Dash
Next Friday, from 2.30pm, OSFA will be holding the Colour Dash; it promises to be a great event! OSFA have been putting many details out on their Facebook page including answers to some questions that have been asked by parents.
Children's places must be booked before hand so please get the slips returned to school before next Friday. Children will be given a wristband to enter and be set off in different waves. Adults will be throwing colour over pupils and parents as they go around a course, with obstacles, that will be clearly marked out beforehand. Refreshments will be on offer during the event.
Parents must be in supervision of their children and I would ask all to respect the different age groups whilst on the course, making sure you keep out of the way until it is your turn.
