Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 33
Final Round Up!
Tuesday is a rather unorthodox day for a newsletter at Overton St Helens, however with the craziness of last Friday's festivities and the busyness of this Friday to come, I felt it would be good to round off the year and say many 'thank yous', at this point of the final week.
First, a huge thank you to all those who took part in our Overton Talent show last week. It was an amazing event where the skills, talents and courage of our pupils shone through. The singing, dancing, gymnastics, art-work and music was fantastic - well done to all. Thank you also to those who were our amazing audience - the atmosphere in the hall was just perfect, so thank you for the enthusiastic support you gave.
Our week last week ended in what possibly was the most amount of fun I have had yet in my years as Head of Overton. The smiles, laughter, excitement and shear joy of being covered in paint and water on a hot sunny afternoon was absolutely brilliant - I hope you have enjoyed seeing the photos (and the gunging) on our Facebook page. Even though today's rain has finally washed away the colour from the field, the memories will stay around for a very long time. THANK YOU OSFA and all the parents who helped out, for putting on such a great event!
OSFA Appreciation!
I want to make a special effort to thank our OSFA committee for the tireless work they have put in over the school year. From discos and colour dashing, to pop-up shops and the Christmas Fair, the events they organise enrich the school experience and add to the life of the school. For all of those wonderful things, a huge thank you on behalf of us all goes to Charlotte Lynch, Jo Clarke, Laura Wellock and Steph Brooks.
This year three of our members are stepping back from their roles on the committee - thank you again to Steph, Jo and Laura for your support and work over the years.
We are now looking for some new committee members to join Charlotte - if you feel you could help us in this way, please let us know. We will really appreciate your support.
Good Luck and Best Wishes
Tomorrow we will be saying good bye for a while to Mrs Moffat who will be leaving us to begin her Maternity leave. We wish her all our love and luck as she and Mr Moffatt get ready to welcome a new addition to their family. We are fortunate next year to have Miss Morson who will be stepping into a full-time role, teaching Holly Class.
Similarly, I would also like to say farewell to Jade Hughes, our mental health support practitioner, who will be leaving her role for a while to have her first child. We wish both these lovely ladies, much love and blessings for the happy times ahead.
Summer Cricket Club
I have been asked to inform parents that Heysham Cricket Club are running a summer school for four days towards the end of July. If anyone would be interested in this opportunity, then drop an email to heyshamcc@gmail.com for more information. The summer school runs for four days - 22nd July to 25th July.
High School Consideration
To our current Year 5 parents, soon to be Year 6 parents, you will no doubt be turning your attention to begin considering high school choices. The deadline for application to high schools is at the end of October 2025 and very soon, open days for the majority of our local high schools will be available. Where possible I will include these in the dates section of the newsletter, however it is always a good idea to keep your eyes on the website of those schools you are interested in.
Another consideration is how your child might get to and from school. It is worth checking out the county council's Home to School Transport Policy to see if your child may be eligible for free transport, which can be a considerable cost. Here is the link: https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/council/strategies-policies-plans/children-education-and-families/school-transport/home-to-school-transport-policy/

We will be announcing our last Stars of the Week tomorrow in our final celebration worship of the year, unfortunately too late to mention them here.
